Raiders add four assistant coaches

Oakland Raiders new head coach Jack Del Rio continues to build a coaching staff despite not having a defensive coordinator yet.

The Raiders announced that Todd Downing will coach quarterbacks, Marcus Robertson will coach defensive backs, Sal Sunseri will coach linebackers, and Mike Tice will coach the offensive line.

Downing joins the Raiders after coaching the quarterbacks of the Buffalo Bills, after spending five seasons with the Detroit Lions where he helped tutor Matthew Stafford.

Robertson enters his second year with the Raiders, earning a promotion after serving as the assistant secondary coach last season. He is partially credited for the play of Charles Woodson and the young defensive backs on the team.

Sunseri joins the Raiders after spending the last two seasons coaching Florida State’s defensive line. His new task will be coaching a solid, young linebackers crew that includes Sio Moore and Khalil Mack. Sunseri worked under Nick Saban in Alabama where he served as assistant head coach and linebackers coach.

TIce joins the Raiders after coaching the offensive line with the Atlanta Falcons. He worked with Del Rio previously, serving as the assistant head coach and tight ends coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2006-2009.

Del Rio must still find a defensive coordinator to work under him.
