Reece wears the Raiders signature “Al” shirt under his jersey for every game he plays in, and the Pro Bowl is no exception. He’s done it the last two Pro Bowls, and now he’s done it this year.
“It means the world to me,” Reece said of wearing the shirt. “After Pops (Al) passed away, I said that I would dedicate the rest of my career to him and will always try and make him proud.”
The versatile fullback was a wide receiver at the University of Washington before Mr. Davis signed him to the Raiders practice squad and converted him to a fullback. Since then, Reece has become a dangerous weapon out of the backfield, both receiving and running. He has racked up 808 rushing yards (4.7 yards per carry), three rushing touchdowns and 175 receptions for 1,746 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his seven year career.
The seven-year veteran has already said he wants to be a Raider for life, but now he just wants to help restore the greatness and get back to winning in honor of his former owner.
“You know, it’s time for us to turn this organization around and get some wins and be champions again,” Reece said after the Pro Bowl. “I’ll always remember him and I’ll always keep him close to me and whenever I’m playing, he’s always with me.”
