2015 Draft Profile: RB Melvin Gordon

A closer look at Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon and his draft profile.

Combine Numbers

40-yard dash: 4.52 seconds (best among running backs)

Bench press: 19 reps

Vertical jump: 35.0 inches

Broad jump: 126.0 inches

3-cone drill: 7.04 seconds

20-yard shuttle: 4.07 seconds

It doesn’t seem likely that the Raiders will draft Gordon, unless he somehow drops to the 2nd round, but it’s still at least worth looking at.

Gordon posted the second-most single-season rushing yards in FBS History with 2,587 yards in 2014 (second to Barry Sanders with 2,628 in 1988). His year earned him the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s best running back.

Gordon is a tall, letty running back that can run both on the inside and outside. Has an impressive burst and can break away from defenses with ease (had 40 runs for 15-plus yards in 2014). Gordon also possesses the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.
