2015 Draft Profile: RB David Johnson

A closer look at Northern Iowa’s David Johnson and his draft profile.

Combine Numbers

40-yard dash: 4.50 seconds

Bench press: 25 reps

Vertical jump: 41.5 inches

Broad jump: 127.0 inches

3-cone drill: 6.82 seconds

20-yard shuttle: 4.27 seconds

David Johnson is another player that is climbing draft boards due to a strong combine anda strong 2015 Senior Bowl, where he rushed for 43 yards while adding a touchdown, a 16-yard pass reception and 82 kick-return yards.

In addition, Johnson was selected first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference in both 2013 and 2014 and became the first player in school history with three consecutive 1,000 yard seasons.

Johnson has a large body that will fight for additional yards, while he is a solid pass-catcher out of the backfield. He also has great hands out of the backfield.

The Raiders failed to get DeMarco Murray, and will likely look to add a young back somewhere in the draft. Johnson is a good choice if they’d like to use a late second (via a trade) or a third-round pick.
