Raiders add Mario Edwards, Jr.

Many believed Reggie McKenzie and the Raiders would look for a bookend pass rusher for Khalil Mack with their first-round pick, but they waited and took wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Instead, the Raiders selected defensive lineman Mario Edwards, Jr. out of Florida State.

Edwards is a versatile defensive lineman that has played both end while also playing tackle. He has struggled with weight issues but was down to 272 during the combine, hinting the fact that he wants to play end for the Raiders.

He comes off the snap with great power and can press blockers out of the way.

One of the biggest knocks on him is his weight issues and his desire to play the game. Jack Del Rio and Ken Norton, Jr. will have to keep him engaged and motivated to play hard every down.

Many in Raider Nation wanted to draft Randy Gregory, but the Nation should wait and see how Edwards plays out because he has some serious athletic upside.
