Derek Carr sidelined for first OTA

The Oakland Raiders began their Organized Team Activities with Tuesday’s practice available to the media and were without their starting quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr was forced to watch the practice after being “unable to go” with an undisclosed injury. He was in his red jersey, but did not boast a helmet or cleats.

Head coach Jack Del Rio has made a point to not discuss any of his players’ injuries, as he is not obligated to unlike the regular season.

While Del Rio would not offer much of a timetable for his return, he didn’t seem too worried about his star quarterback’s absence and cited that he’d rather it be now than in the season.

"Time missed in May is better than time missed in September," Del Rio said. "You're often more capable of taking whatever time is necessary to make sure you put things behind you."
