The Oakland Raiders placed starting outside linebacker Sio Moore on the physically unable to perform list on Monday, according to Bill Williamson of ESPN.
The team was hopeful that Moore would be back before training camp after having what general manager Reggie McKenzie said was “major” hip surgery.
Moore was able to return in part during the mandatory minicamp, but was not practicing in full. Moore likely will be back on the field before long, and the front office is able to activate him at any time during camp.
Luckily for the Raiders, the team has more depth at the linebacker position than it has in recent years. The Raiders signed former Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith in the offseason, and he is expected to see an increase in snaps due to the absence of Moore.
