A look at the key matchups for the Raiders defense against the Jets

Raiders front seven vs. Chris Ivory

Running back Chris Ivory plays a big role in the New York Jets offense, already rushing for over 500 yards on the season. Khalil Mack and the rest of the linebacking corps and the front seven must find a way to contain Ivory. Ivory is a big back and the defensive line must make sure they use good technique to bring him down. Slowing down Ivory and the rushing attack will go a long way in slowing down the Jets offense.

Raiders defensive tackles vs. NY Jets interior offensive line

One of the biggset matchups will occur on the offensive line this week. Veteran center Nick Mangold is injured with a neck injury and officially listed as doubtful. Mangold is a solid offensive lineman and it will be a big loss for the Jets should he be unable to go. It will be a big plus for Dan Williams and the defensive tackles if they're going up against a backup center. Getting an interior pass rush will greatly help Mack and the outside pass rushers.

TJ Carrie vs. Brandon Marshall

Cornerback TJ Carrie (or whoever may be designated the assignment) is going to have a tough matchup against veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall. The Jets traded for Marshall in the offseason and are reaping the dividends as he already has 41 receptions for 578 receiving yards and four touchdowns. His size (6-foot-4, 230 pounds) makes him a tough matchup for anyone, and it'll be interesting to see how the Raidres choose to cover him given they have a more-than-capable wide receiver in Eric Decker on the other side.
