The Raiders boosted their secondary by reportedly coming to terms with cornerback Sean Smith

After losing out on cornerback Janoris Jenkins earlier Wednesday morning, the Raiders appear to have landed the other top free agent cornerback on the market - Sean Smith.

Smith all but confirmed the signing on his Twitter, changing his avatar to him in a Silver & Black jersey along with the following tweet:

Head coach Jack Del Rio noted at the NFL Combine that the Raiders needed to add cornerbacks, and they got a good one in Smith.

He has spent the last three seasons with the Chiefs who may have had a hard time re-signing him because of other free agents.

Smith had two interceptions and 12 passes defensed in 2015 in a secondary that also already features standout rookie Marcus Peters and Phillip Gaines.

There's no doubt the Raiders needed help in the secondary after finishing with the 7th worst pass defense in the league (258.8 yards per game). The Silver & Black did find a gem in David Amerson who was picked up midseason, but TJ Carrie and former 12th-overall pick DJ Hayden largely struggled last season.
