The 2016 NFL Draft is less than a month away and the Oakland Raiders front office is continuing to do their due diligence on potential selections.
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Silver & Black will workout Louisiana Tech's defensive lineman Vernon Butler.
The Raiders would like to add young depth along the defensive line, especially in the interior where they feature last year's free agency pickup Dan Williams, along with fellow former Louisiana Tech star Justin "Jelly" Ellis.
Butler is another big-bodied, athletic lineman that would give the Raiders added versatility, something that head coach Jack Del Rio enjoys.
He has a rare combination of power and quickness, along with a raw but diverse skillset as a pass rusher that may be intriguing to the Raiders front office. His ceiling appears to be high and he has the ability to play in a 3-4 and also a 4-3.
Butler was voted to the first-team All-Conference-USA team for his senior year, racking up 50 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, three sacks, and eight quarterback hurries.
