The Oakland Raiders returned to the football field on Thursday missing one of their expected started as rookie safety Karl Joseph sat out his first practice.
The Raiders drafted Joseph 14th overall in April's draft with hopes that he can help step into the starting role at strong safety in a largely-overhauled secondary. Joseph already missed all of the Offseason Training Activities and mini-camps as he rehabbed a torn ACL that he suffered last season.
Joseph has since returned to the field and looked good while wearing a sleeve over the right knee.
Head coach Jack Del Rio was not scheduled to talk to the media today (but is supposed to Friday), but a Raiders spokesperson said the team has "no comment" on why Joseph sat out Thursday's practice.
