General manager Reggie McKenzie and the Oakland Raiders front office faced a tough decision this week when it came to roster cuts, especially at the running back position.
The emergence of undrafted free agent and tryout player Jalen Richard made it especially tough for players on the cusp of the roster including second-year player George Atkinson III.
Ultimately, the Raiders waived Atkinson III and he now has a new team. The Cleveland Browns announced Sunday that they have claimed him, where he will join former Raiders head coach Hue Jackson.
The former Notre Dame running back led the Raiders this preseason with 191 rushing yards on 19 atemps and three touchdowns, while also adding six receptions for 60 yards.
He originally signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame and appeared in five games his rookie season. He spent nine weeks on the team's practice squad last season.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound running back dropped a wide open touchdown in the preseason finale on Thursday night, and also fumbled the ball once. He did however return a kickoff for a touchdown, but ultimately it wasn't enough as the team decided to go another direction with their roster spots.
