Raiders set to place cornerback DJ Hayden on season-ending IR

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio announced Friday that cornerback DJ Hayden will not return to the field this year.

Hayden left last week's game early after getting tangled up with wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and landed awkwardly, apparently hurting his hamstring in the process.

"He has a substantial hamstring injury, and won’t be returning this year for us,” Del Rio said Friday.

The Raiders will place Hayden on season-ending injured reserve, ending his 2016 season early. After signing David Amerson and Sean Smith in the offseason, Hayden had found himself as the slot corner and had been playing will for the Raiders.

Now the Raiders will turn to cornerbacks TJ Carrie and Antonio Hamilton to fill in at the position.
