The San Diego Chargers announced on Thursday that they will be leaving beautiful San Diego to move to Los Angeles, just a year after the Rams did the same to the city of St. Louis.
Chargers chairman Dean Spanos made the announcement Thursday morning despite having until Jan. 17 to make the decision. The Chargers have been in San Diego for 56 seasons and now will be taking their team north to become the second team in second-largest media market in the country.
Mark Davis and the Oakland Raiders have also been flirting with relocation as they have been unable to get a stadium deal done in Oakland. The Raiders were next in line for a shot of moving to LA if the Chargers declined, but now that's not an option for the Silver & Black.
Davis has explored the opportunity of calling Las Vegas home, and it appears he's been exploring it even deeper while attending this week's owners meetings.
Sources close to Raiderfans.net and Silver & Black Report are reporting that the Raiders plan on moving forward with relocation to Las Vegas. After yesterday's owners meeting in New York, the team feels confident that they will receive the votes needed to approve the move to LV.
