The latest in the Oakland Raiders coaching saga – the man they fired appears to have found a job before they found his replacement.
The Raiders, who fired Bill Callahan on Dec. 31, interviewed San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Knapp Thursday for their head coaching vacancy. Knapp has been San Francisco's offensive coordinator since 1997 and stayed with the team after the 49ers fired Steve Mariucci as head coach.
Oakland also received permission to speak with 49ers defensive coordinator Jim Mora Jr. about its head coach opening. Mora, however, reached an agreement to become the Atlanta Falcons head coach. The Falcons will reportedly make an announcement Friday.
Dallas assistant coaches Sean Payton and Maurice Carthon have also been rumored as candidates for the Raiders head-coaching job.
Callahan, meanwhile, will reportedly be hired as the University of Nebraska's head coach Friday according to reports in the Lincoln-Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald. Callahan was in Lincoln, NE, the last two days interviewing for a job vacated by the ousting of Frank Solich.
