10 allocated to NFL Europe

The Oakland Raiders allocated 10 players to NFL Europe for the 2005 season, nine of whom have already been assigned to teams. The allocated Raiders were assigned to Germany-based teams.

The Rhein Fire lead the way with three Raiders on the roster. Ssfety Keyon Nash, linebacker Edward Thomas, and wide receiver Cedric Bonner will all suit up for the Fire this spring. Running backs J.R. Niklos and Jarmar Julien will play for the Frankfurt Galaxy. The Berlin Thunder is the only other NFLEL team with more than one Raiders player, with quarterback Bret Engemann and tackle Shaun Rose on their roster.

Wide receiver James Adkisson will play for the Cologne Centurions and defensive back Marquis Smith will suit up for the expansion Hamburg Sea Devils. Punter Steve Baker will be assigned to a team at a later date, along with other kickers and punters.

Five of the 10 allocated players spent all or part of the 2004 season with the Raiders. Nash was a member of the Raiders' practice squad for the first 15 weeks of the season before being called up to the active roster for the team's final two games. Nash was a sixth round draft choice by the Raiders in 2002. Niklos spent the first nine weeks of the season on the practice squad, and Engemann was on the practice squad for the first seven weeks of the year. Adkisson spent training camp with the club and was added to the practice squad for the final six weeks of the season. Baker spent training camp with the Raiders prior to the season.

All NFL Europe players and teams report to training camp in Tampa, Florida on February 21. The 10-week NFL Europe season kicks off April 2 and concludes with World Bowl XIII on June 11 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
