Raiders give Sharpe a look

Having patched their defense, the Raiders have now turned their attention to the offense. Tight end Shannon Sharpe visited the team's Alameda facilities on Monday and was said to be talking to Oakland about a possible deal.

Sharpe, who has caught more passes than any other tight end in NFL history, was released by the Baltimore Ravens earlier this month in a cost-cutting move. His presence in Oakland would clearly put Jeremy Brigham's job in jeopardy and could even mean a demotion for Roland Williams. Oakland no doubt will be leaning on linebacker Bill Romanowski to press Sharpe to get a deal done. Romanowski and Sharpe were teammates in Denver before the Hall of Fame-bound tight end left for Baltimore two seasons ago, where he wound up winning a Super Bowl title with the Ravens.
