Raiders release then re-sign Jordan

So much for Randy Jordan staying unemployed very long. Jordan, the veteran running back who has been a key special teams player, was re-signed by the Raiders less than 48 hours after being released by the club. Oakland reportedly saved $325,000 with the transaction, lowering Jordan's salary from $1 million under his old contract to $675,000 under terms of the new deal.

Jordan's contract would have ballooned to $1.5 million in 2003 and $1.95 million in 2004. With Oakland needing to make room to sign nine draft picks in April's NFL draft, the team couldn't afford to keep Jordan under his current contract.
