Saturday notebook

Rich Gannon might have announced his retirement but his impression will be a lasting one.

Raiders punter Shane Lechler, who joined the team in 2000 along with kicker Sebastian Janikowski, had a locker next to Gannon.

"He kind of broke Sebastian and I into the league,." Lechler said. "He told us the ins and outs."

Gannon had a leadership quality that could be a little slashing but also took the team to greater heights.

"Rich could see a guy's potential and wanted him to see it as well," Lechler said. "He may have ruffled a few feathers but he got the job done."

Quick hits
