Raiders sign Tyrone Poole

The Oakland Raiders have come to terms on a two-year contract with cornerback Tyrone Poole.

An 11-year veteran of the NFL, Tyrone Poole spent the last three seasons with the New England Patriots. Injuries, however, have limited his playing time over the last two years to just six games.

The 5-foot-9, 190-pound defensive back has played in just 22 of 48 regular season games for the Patriots. He played in all 16 regular season games in his first year in New England.

Poole provides a veteran presence to a group that includes three cornerbacks under the age of 25: Nnamdi Asomugha, Fabian Washington and Stanford Routt.

Originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft (22nd overall), he has spent time with three other teams beside the Patriots: Carolina (1995-97), Indianapolis (1998-2000) and Denver (2001-02).

He has managed 497 tackles, 5 sacks, 17 interceptions, 133 passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries through his NFL career.
