Raiders defense paves the way

While much of the talk will surround Aaron Brooks and Randy Moss hooking up for two touchdowns in Oakland's 24-3 thumping of Detroit, it should be noted that the defense has stifled the opposition in four straight games, minus one series.

As the Raiders became the only 4-0 team in the NFL preseason, they have done so behind a defense that is allowing 8.25 points per game, the fourth best mark in football and the only team to have played four games among the bunch.

Friday saw them hold the Detroit offense to three points on the strength of two interceptions, three quarterback sacks, countless pressures and two fumbles forced.

They bent, at times, on Friday night but never allowed Detroit to get inside their 20-yard line.

Linebacker Kirk Morrison, he of 116 tackles last year as a rookie, collected one of those interceptions and talked about the defense finding its rhythm and performing well since Philadelphia scored on the first drive of the preseason:
