Raiders - Browns locker room buzz

The Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns enter Sunday's game a combined 0-5 and each is eyeing their first win of the season. With emotions amped up, here is a sample of what is being said from both locker rooms.

Raiders DL Derrick Burgess

On this being a must-win game: "Every game is a must-win game. This is a must-win game and the next one will be a must-win game."

On the fans in Oakland: "They are tremendous fans. They are behind us either way, win or lose. That is a lot to ask for, but that's what we get."

On putting pressure on QB Charlie Frye: "We are going to try our best as a front four to put pressure on the quarterback. He does a good job of running and making plays on the run. We are going to try to take our shots at him. He's been sacked 12 times but there have been times where he's made people miss and made something out of nothing."

On how QB Charlie Frye has changed in two years: "He looks more confident in the pocket. That has a lot to do with his offensive lineman and the guys around him. The tight end, receivers and the running back."

Browns WR Braylon Edwards

On being desperate at 0-3: "Desperation is a strong word. I feel when you play desperate, I don't want to say you play like you should, but desperate isn't the word I want to use. We just need to get a win. That's the bottom line. We have 13 games left and now would be a nice time to get a win. If we can build upon a win, we can possibly win 13 in a row."

Browns QB Charlie Frye

On playing in Oakland: "It's a tough place to play. I remember Phil Dawson:making that field goal as time expired and we got a win. That's the plan this week, go out there and get a win."

On anything special coming from last year's win in Oakland: "You always remember your first win. We'll go out there this week – every week in the NFL is to go out there and try to get a win. The Black Hole, it's a tough place to play. We'll execute on offense and get the job done."

Raiders coach Art Shell

On looking at this as a win might turn the season around: "We are always looking to win. It's a big game because it's the next game on the schedule. That's our approach to it. We respect the Cleveland Browns, we think they are an outstanding organization. We think their football team has outstanding players. They have a lot of weapons. The young quarterback is able to make plays. He can be harassed, but he can still make plays. Braylon Edwards has come back and he's made a lot of big plays down the field. They have an outstanding running back. The makings of a good team are there. They have veteran leadership on defense by bringing in Willie McGinest and now they have Ted Washington in the middle. It's there on both sides. We are trying to meet the challenge that is there for us, which is to play a good football team in the National Football League."

On the Browns and Raiders once being proud franchises but struggling now: "I think it has to do with attitude and having the right personnel. I think if you get those things in place, you change the way you go about winning and how to win. If you get those things in place, you can be successful. Romeo is doing a good job. It may not look like it, but he is doing a very good job with that team. He is changing the face of that organization and how they've been doing things. He's trying to get them on the right track, and I think that will come."

On QB Andrew Walter: "He is a young, big kid who has the ability to throw the ball down the field. He's a smart kid. He grasps things pretty well. With every young kid that is a rookie in this league, it's tough to come in and play the quarterback position. I think he has all of the tools necessary to be a good football player for us."
