One draft pick helps his cause, three others do no

Phillip Buchanon, one of two first-round draft picks of Oakland, took another step toward becoming the Raiders' No. 1 punt returner. Buchanon, who is in a three-way battle with Ronald Curry and Reggie Barlow, returned one punt for 20 yards and cleanly made two fair catches.

Curry and Ned, however, did not help their cause and special teams is their most realistic shot at making the club. Curry had returns of 15 and 19 yards but also fumbled a punt and kickoff to negate those plays. Ned fumbled a kickoff and was called for illegal motion. Offensive Tackle Langston Walker, one of the Raiders two second-round draft picks, was beaten badly when Carlos Hall sacked Marques Tuiasosopo from the blind side.
