''I don't know know exactly where he's at with the mental phase since he's been here, but in talking with him he feels real good about knowing the basics of our system,'' said head coach Bill Callahan. ''Some of the pressure calls and some of the sub-package calls are a little bit different and that's what he's been studying.''
Though the Raiders defense had problems against the run in their first two preseason games this year, the team is not rushing Adams into the lineup. He'll sit out Saturday's game against San Francisco and might only get a handful of plays in next Thursday in the exhibition finale against Arizona.
But when the team kicks off the regular season Sept. 8 at home against Seattle, expect Adams to be in the lineup.
