Brooks and Sapp believe - does anyone else?

Others may not believe – the owner and fans may not even believe – but quarterback Aaron Brooks and defensive lineman Warren Sapp still see something in this Oakland Raiders team. One or both may not, however, return next year.

On who may or may not be back next year

Aaron Brooks: I really don't know. I can't say what it is, but I am really looking forward to moving on from this season.

On Raiders head coach Art Shell

Aaron Brooks: I believe in coach one hundred percent; completely. Like I said, I've always respected the man. I hope he's back as head coach next year.

On whether coach Shell would want to be back for next season

Aaron Brooks: I think he would definitely want to be back.

On using coach Shell as a scapegoat for this seasons struggles

Aaron Brooks: I said in an interview earlier, a few weeks ago, I think it would be unfair, very unjustified, to use coach as a scapegoat. Coach did everything he needed to do as a head coach. I hold the players accountable. We are professionals, young men, and we have a job that we love and need. And its time to move on now.

On whether or not he is relived the at the season is over

Aaron Brooks: No, not right now. I am still (inaudible) off, frustrated, disappointed about how things went over the course of the year.

On the outlook for next year

Warren Sapp: We have everyone locked and loaded under contract so we can come back with a solid group of guys.

On having second thoughts about leaving Tampa

Warren Sapp: No, I told all of you. I like the feel of it, I like the coaches. Some bad things happened, we lost out quarterback, we mixed and matched offensive lineman, but more that that we kept making mistakes namely turnovers. You can't do that and expect to win in this league.

On the defense being frustrated with the offense

Warren Sapp: Having to go back and forth off the field isn't something you want to get used to because if it becomes okay in our minds (defense), it becomes okay in their minds (offense) and that is not something we are going to let happen around here, especially while I am around.

On moving past the season

Warren Sapp: It is over now. I don't think anyone on the team can look at his effort all year long and say, I didn't put in the work. I did to not become a better player or give my team a better chance to win. That is something you can take away from it. This one is over there is nothing I can do about it.

On the future of the club

Warren Sapp: I will go back to Oakland, sit down and talk to the powers that be and get my curiosity over with to put myself in the right frame of mind to come back and be ready to go again. There is a little more tread on these tires.
