While he lined up a weakside in college, amassing 62 tackles, including four for a loss, while adding two sacks, Roach is being projected inside – perhaps because of his lack of ideal size (6-foot-0).
Roach suffered a broken leg near the end of the season on punt coverage – and he has been earmarked as being less than durable.
When he is on the field, however, Roach has proved that he can run with a tight end and shows a solid ability to locate the ball through traffic.
One of the team captains, Roach threw up 27-reps of 225-pounds but was unable to run on his Pro Day after pulling a hamstring.
The Raiders wanted to get a better beat on his speed and instincts up close and could look to him in the latter rounds.
