Raiders visit with speedy cornerback

The Oakland Raiders have always been enamored with speed. As such, they brought in one speedy cornerback for a private visit.

At the first annual Texas vs. The Nation Collegiate All-Star Bowl John Bowie, who had gone under the radar of many NFL scouts, made considerable progress during the week leading up to the game.

Bowie was the fastest player involved with the game, timing out at a 4.38 40-yard dash.

"Bowie possesses rare speed and solid size," TFY Draft Preview said. "Had not played much football until this season, yet showed enough skill to be stashed on a practice squad."

A track star and spring champion in the Big East Conference, has only started one year and was plagued by injuries in 2004 and 2005.

He intercepted two passes last season and collected 38 tackles. Viewed as a bit of a project, Bowie could earn late round consideration and be stowed away while he develops.
