Raiders ink undrafted cornerback

The NFL Draft may be over but this is the busiest time for front office personnel, as they connect with players who went undrafted to fill out their rosters. Cornerback was a position the Raiders wanted to increase depth at, despite the selection of John Bowie in round four. They will ink one such player in the next day.

SilverandBlack.com has confirmed that the Oakland Raiders have signed Northwestern cornerback Marquice Cole.

Showing flashes of ability the past two seasons, Cole offers a lot of potential for the next level. Must fine-tune all aspects of his game and prove he is more than just a size/speed prospect.

Biography:

Full-time starter the past two seasons and an All-Conference selection as a junior. Senior totals included 44/2/4 after career-best totals of 46/5/10 the prior year.

Pos:

Athletic cornerback with solid size/speed numbers. Quick-footed moving in reverse, works well with safeties and displays good recognition on the field.

Neg:

Better athlete than football player. Tends to tackle a little high and is not very physical. Quick out of his backpedal. Does not consistently play to his timed speed.

Spring - comes in as the leader for the left corner slot. Fast, good cover corner should solidify position during the spring.
