Raiders sign undrafted free agent LB

The Oakland Raiders ignored linebacker in the 2007 NFL Draft but were in the market when undrafted free agency hit and struck quickly to sign one player.

The Oakland Raiders signed linebacker Kyle Shotwell out of Cal-Poly as an undrafted free agent.

The 12th winner of the Buck Buchanan Award presented annually to the top defensive player in I-AA/FCS football, Shotwell led the nation in tackles for a loss with 21.

He finished the year with 122 tackles, seven sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Shotwell is the third consecutive Cal Poly defender to win the Buchanan Award, following Jordan Beck and Chris Gocong.
