Randal Williams waived; Kurt Campbell signed

Randal Williams was placed on waivers by the Raiders, ending a mysterious week in which the tight end left the team, returned, then never showed up on the field again.

Randal Williams only practiced two days and didn't show up for the team's evening practice last Saturday. At the time, Oakland coach Lane Kiffin said it was due to personal reasons.

Then on Wednesday, tight end Tony Stewart changed jersey numbers and wore Williams' No. 86, leading some to believe that Williams had been cut. But the Raiders instead placed Williams on the left-camp list and were granted a roster exemption.

A day later, Kiffin said that Williams had returned to the team. But Williams never returned to practice and the Raiders officially parted ways with him late Friday, placing him on waivers.

Oakland made one other roster move, signing linebacker Kurt Campbell who was with the team in the offseason.
