Raiders acquire Gerard Warren

The Oakland Raiders acquireddefensive tackle Gerard Warren from the Denver Broncos for a fifth-round draft pick in 2008.

Gerard Warren (6-foot-4, 325 pounds) is a seventh-year pro who spent the past two seasons in Denver after he was acquired in a trade with Cleveland in 2005. The Browns made him the third overall pick in the 2001 draft out of Florida.

Warren had 51 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season but he fell into the doghouse with Denver, making him expendable.

He started 31 games for the Broncos in the last two seasons, helping the club rank seventh in the NFL against the run (99.3 ypg.) during that time.

He has also posted 22 sacks in his career that tie for the eighth-highest total among active NFL defensive tackles since he entered the NFL in 2001.
