Raiders draft McFadden in first round

With the fourth pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.

Looking for more offense after spending a lot of money on the defensive side of the ball, the Raiders selected Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.

4.30 forty-yard dash. An explosive back who makes the most out of holes in the line, McFadden is a game-breaker that adds to an already crowded backfield.

The roles of Justin Fargas, LaMont Jordan and Michael Bush became a bit more cloudy as a result.

While there are questions about the strength in his legs, there is no doubting his ability to take the ball to the house.

After taking JaMarcus Russell first overall last year, they now have placed a second weapon in the backfield to take the pressure off their franchise quarterback.

McFadden is only the second running back in Arkansas history to rush for 1,000 yards or more in three consecutive years. He became the all-time leading rusher in school history with 4,485 yards in 37 career games, and also owns the school record for most career games with at least 100 yards rushing, with 22.
