Raiders sign five

On the first day of their offseason workout program, the Raiders made several roster moves including signing strongside linebacker Ricky Brown and kickoff returner Justin Miller.

The team also signed backup center Chris Morris, long-snapper Jon Condo and defensive tackle William Joseph.

Other outlets have reported the team has also signed linebacker Jon Alston, but the Raiders don't have it listed on their website like the others are.

Signing Brown, a restricted free agent, was a no-brainer. He was already one of Oakland's top special teams players before winning the starting strongside linebacker job in training camp last season. He played well early but suffered a groin injury and was sidelined for the final eight weeks of the season.

Miller, a midseason addition, became the first player in team history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the same season. He scored on a 92-yard return against San Diego on Dec. 4 and had a 91-yard return for a touchdown the following week against New England.

Morris has played guard and center during his time in Oakland. With Jake Grove now in Miami, Morris will head into training camp as the backup to John Wade, unless the Raiders sign another veteran center or use one of their draft picks on one.

Condo has been Oakland's long-snapper the past two seasons. Joseph was with the team in training camp but was cut. The Raiders eventually re-signed Joseph but he played sparingly.
