Randy Hanson once claimed his lifelong dream was to coach for the Oakland Raiders. That dream was shattered, literally, when Hanson was allegedly involved in a training camp scuffle with Oakland head coach Tom Cable after having his coaching duties stripped.
What followed was a drama not even the best of soap opera writers could come up with.
Now there's another twist to the saga.
According to a source close to Hanson, Hanson returned to work for the Raiders on Wednesday. A team source also confirmed to S&BI that Hanson indeed has returned to work for the team.
But Hanson isn't back coaching, like he wanted. Instead, Oakland has assigned him to its personnel department.
"I've heard that but I do not know anything about that," Cable said when asked about Hanson's situation on Wednesday. "I really don't know a lot about that other than I was told that he was back."
Cable, who was cleared of all the allegations made by Hanson, was clearly perturbed by Hanson's return and admitted he was surprised to find out he had been allowed to return to work.
"Sure, but right now my focus is this football team," Cable said. "That's behind us and we're moving forward."
