Todd Gurley Named The Sporting News' NFL Rookie of The Year

St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley has already racked up several honors for his rookie season.

St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley earned another accolade on Tuesday morning.

The Sporting News, after polling NFL players and executives, selected Gurley as its Rookie of the Year ahead of Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper

Gurley, who was also selected for the Pro Bowl, had previously been selected second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press.

After missing the first two games because of the knee injury he suffered a year ago at the University of Georgia, 21-year-old Gurley set an NFL record by rushing for 566 yards in his first four starts.

Gurley finished third in the NFL with 1,106 yards rushing, averaging 4.8 yards per carry, and 10 touchdowns in 13 games. He also caught 21 passes for 188 yards, giving him 1,294 total yards.
