The Los Angeles Rams were open for business on Monday morning with fans able to begin the process of buying tickets for the 2016 season.
Fans were able to visit their website, http://welcomehomerams.com, to make a refundable $100 deposit to secure a spot in line to purchase season tickets when they become available this spring.
Among the first two sign up was one of L.A.’s biggest stars, Lakers great and Dodgers part-owner Magic Johnson.
The Rams followed up with a tweet about their ticket buyer.
The team announced, via Twitter, that more than 5,000 deposits were sold within the first five minutes the website went live.
The Rams announced later in the day that more than 8,000 deposits were sold. The organization did not provide a total of number of deposits sold on the first day.
The returning Los Angeles franchise will play in the Coliseum until the state-of-the-art stadium in Inglewood is completed, which is expected to before the start of the 2019 season. Fans who are season ticket holders in the Coliseum will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets when the team moves into its Inglewood stadium.
