Rams' Ethan Westbrooks arrested on domestic violence charges

The veteran defensive end was placed under arrest on Monday night after suspicion of domestic violence.

Los Angeles Rams defensive end Ethan Westbrooks on Monday night was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in Sacramento, Calif. 

The entire incident stemmed from a call from a woman that had injuries to her upper body coming from a child custody dispute with the 26-year-old, who was found shortly after at a different location.These injuries are believed not to be life-threatening to the woman. 

Westbrooks was later released from jail on Monday morning. In response to the situation, the Rams have immediately issued a statement. 

“We are aware of the serious allegations involving Ethan Westbrooks. We are in contact with authorities and are gathering more information. Per team policy, we will continue to respect the legal process and have no further comment at this time.”

It had been reported in November that Westbrooks was in long custody battles with the mothers of his two youngest children. There is no indication as to which of his kids that were involved in this incident at this moment in time. 

Westbrooks has spent his first hree seasons in the NFL with the Rams after going undrafted out of West Texas A&M. In 2016, he recorded a career-high 24 tackles with two sacks while playing in all 16 games. He is slated to become a restricted free agent this offseason.
