Rams place tender on Dominique Easley

Los Angeles on Tuesday decided to place a tender on the veteran defensive lineman.

The Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday afternoon decided to place an original-round tender on restricted free agent defensive tackle Dominique Easley

This move gives the Rams the right of first refusal for any deal that Easley is handed from another team during free agency that is set to begin on Thursday at 4:00 PM ET. This would also require another organization to give up a draft pick that can go as high as the second round if he is signed to a contract.

The 24-year-old joined Los Angeles last offseason on a one-year deal after spending the first two years of his career with the New England Patriots. He quickly worked his way up into an important spot in the defensive line rotation that saw him play in all 16 games for the first time while finishing with career highs in sacks (3.5), tackles (35), and forced fumbles (two). This included his first career multi-sack game that occurred against the Miami Dolphins.

Easley may yield some interest on the market given his youth and potential, but this move signals that the Rams value him highly. He could be an intriguing fit upfront on the defensive line under new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips despite the change to the 3-4 scheme.
