Rams waive quarterback Aaron Murray

Los Angeles has chosen to waive the former Georgia product.

The Los Angeles Rams on Thursday announced that the team has decided to part ways with quarterback Aaron Murray

Murray had taken part in the Rams' voluntary veterans minicamp earlier this offseason and was signed by the team back in March. Murray was originally selected in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs and has yet to play in any regular season game through his first three campaigns in the league. He had spent the last two years as an offseason and practice squad player for the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles

It was anticipated that Murray would have the opportunity to compete for the backup spot behind Jared Goff against Sean Mannion but that never came to fruition. Los Angeles now has just two quarterbacks under contract in Goff and Mannion.

Murray put together a highly productive collegiate career at Georgia where he holds the SEC records with 121 touchdowns pass and 13,166 passing yards. He was also teammates with Rams' All-Pro running back Todd Gurley for two seasons.
