BALTIMORE RAVENS' REPORT CARD

Quarterback: C-plus Joe Flacco played a solid, albeit unspectacular game as the Ravens thrived on the ground. He completed 14 of 25 passes for 196 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions for an 81.4 passer rating. He also rushed for a touchdown, gaining 20 yards on five carries.

Running back: A

The Ravens grinded out 233 rushing yards on 47 carries, averaging five yards per carry. Ray Rice darted for 133 yards and two touchdowns while Willis McGahee gained 67 yards on 10 carries with one touchdown. Pro Bowl fullback Le'Ron McClain had some key isolation blocks on linebacker D.J. Williams. Rice also caught a team-high four passes for 26 yards.

Receiver: C-plus

They weren't asked to do much after the Ravens built an early lead. Afterward, Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason and T.J. Houshmandzadeh seemed subdued.

Offensive line: B

Joe Flacco was only sacked once and hit twice. And the running game got cranked up with some big blocks against an imposing front seven.

Defensive line: B-minus

Haloti Ngata recorded two tackles for losses. Denver has the worst running game in the NFL and lived up to that reputation, gaining just 39 yards on 13 carries. They barely tried to run. Cory Redding notched a sack when Terrell Suggs overpursued Kyle Orton.

Linebacker: C-plus

Ray Lewis and Co. did their jobs for the most part, stopping the run. There wasn't enough pass rush, though. Kyle Orton was sacked only once.

Secondary: B

They had a tough assignment against the NFL's top-ranked passing game, but held up well for the most part. They allowed two big strikes to Brandon Lloyd as he caught five passes for 135 yards and Jabar Gaffney contributed nine catches for 87 yards. Kyle Orton completed 23 of 38 passes for 314 yards and two scores with no interceptions for a 104.5 passer rating.

Special teams: A

Reserve linebacker Jason Phillips knocked the football out of Demaryius Thomas' hands on a kickoff with a huge hit that knocked him out of the game with an apparent concussion. Billy Cundiff powered four of six kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks. The Broncos had zero punt return yards. Dangerous kickoff returner Eddie Royal was contained. Tom Zbikowski averaged 10.5 yards per punt return. And Josh Wilson handled all three kickoffs, averaging 20 yards per return.
