Ed Reed pulls out of the Pro Bowl

OWINGS MILLS-- Baltimore Ravens free safety Ed Reed was replaced on the AFC Pro Bowl squad by Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin due to injury and family reasons.

Reed has been dealing with a rib injury as well as a nerve impingement in his neck. He missed the first six games of the regular season on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing offseason hip surgery.

Reed has also been dealing with a difficult personal situation with his brother disappearing into the Mississippi River after diving into the river to elude police. Reed led the NFL with eight interceptions. Griffin tied for sixth in the AFC with four interceptions, ranking second on the team with 153 tackles and 14 pass deflections. This is Griffin's second trip to the Pro Bowl, named to the AFC squad in 2008 after intercepting seven passes
