Quarterback Joe Flacco attended the first day of the Baltimore Ravens' voluntary conditioning program, participating in a throwing session. Flacco remains in contract discussions with the Ravens, but isn't close to a deal. He's under contract through this season.
The Ravens have a tight salary-cap situation, approximately $1.878 million under the NFL limit.
Meanwhile, Pro Bowl running back and franchise player Ray Rice isn't attending the workouts.
Like Flacco, Rice isn't close to a contract. He has yet to sign his $7.742 million franchise tender.
Rice has no plans to show up without a new deal, which is a common stance for unsigned franchise players.
"To all college athletes getting ready to enter the NFL just remember the business side of the league is rough #fact," Rice wrote on his Twitter account.
More than 40 players were present for the first day of workouts, according to the team.
Among the players the team listed as attending the workouts: newly-minted $50 million cornerback Lardarius Webb and fellow defensive backs Jimmy Smith, Corey Graham, Bernard Pollard, Sean Considine and Danny Gorrer, tight ends Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta, fullback Vonta Leach, defensive linemen Pernell McPhee, Terrence Cody and Arthur Jones, wide receivers Torrey Smith, Tandon Doss, David Reed and LaQuan Williams, running backs Anthony Allen and Damien Berry, offensive guard Jah Reid, offensive tackle Michael Oher, linebackers Jameel McClain, Paul Kruger, Albert McClellan and Sergio Kindle, kicker Billy Cundiff and punter Sam Koch.
NOTES: The following players signed their exclusive-rights tenders: Kindle, long snapper Morgan Cox, Gorrer, linebacker Josh Bynes and center-guard Justin Boren. ... The NFL will release the full schedule tonight at 7 p.m.
