Ravens ink Daryl Smith

The Ravens signed Daryl Smith to a deal on Wednesday, bolstering its depleted inside linebacker unit.

The Baltimore Ravens made it official by signing inside linebacker Daryl Smith to a contract.

Though terms were not disclosed early Wednesday evening, the deal is believed, according to a league sources, to be a one-year, veteran minimum deal.

Smith's presence helps an inside linebacking group that's seen Ray Lewis retire, Dannell Ellerbe sign with Miami and Rolando McClain abruptly retire following an arrest a week after signing. It's also dealt with Jameel McClain's spinal cord contusion, which has yet to fully heal.

Smith spent his first nine NFL seasons with Jacksonville, where he totaled 678 tackles, 21.5 sacks and six interceptions.
