Deonte Thompson's foot is improving

Deonte Thompson believes his recovery from a foot sprain is coming along nicely, though he hasn't been able to practice this week yet.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Being out the past month has been for Deonte Thompson.

He's been forced to watch his teammates practice and participate in preseason games, as well as last week's season-opener to Denver.

In the preseason opener against Tampa Bay, Thompson sprained his foot, which has sidelined him since. With Week 2's game against Cleveland on the horizon, Thompson said he's feeling a bit better with his recovery.

"We've come miles away," Thompson said. "I'm doing a little running now, doing ladder drills. I felt all right, got a little sore but [I'm] definitely getting there."

Thompson didn't give a target date but acknowledged he hadn't been practicing. He's hopeful that if he's unable to go this week, he'll be back in time for Week 3's game against Houston.

"It's getting there," Thompson said. "We're definitely getting closer. It's getting better everyday. I'm just working to get out there."
