"I've committed to the G"

Georgia is where he wanted to be and after getting the scholarship offers Wednesday afternoon, Gary McCrae committed to Georgia that evening...

Georgia offered a defensive back out of Florida at camp Wednesday, he committed on the spot.

Around that same time, Georgia offered an athlete Gary McCrae a scholarship, and after driving home, talking with his family, he decided he wanted to be a Bulldog too.

"My family members are Georgia fans and it is a place that we want to be at. I have been a Georgia my whole life and I've committed to the G," said McCrae.

The 6-foot-4, 220 pound rising-senior out of Cuthbert (Ga.) Randolph-Clay was offered by Mark Richt in Athens and that is who he called to commit Wednesday night.

"I called Coach [Mark] Richt and committed to him on the phone. I told him I am officially going to be a Bulldog. It was pretty exciting.

"After I talked to Coach Richt, I gave the phone to my dad, and Coach Richt explained the scholarship, and all that to him. It was great."

After spending about 36 hours in Athens, Ga. McCrae got the offer he wanted, but he also met the coaches and saw the campus. He really liked what he saw and he cannot wait to suit up between the hedges.

Before doing that, he will get back on the field for one last season at Randolph-Clay. He missed all but one game due to a meniscus tear that he had scoped in 2013.

He worked out for UGA coaches on both sides of the ball and he is unsure where he will play for the Dawgs.

"They offered me as an athlete so I could play offense or defense. I will play wherever they want to me to play."

"I prefer outside linebacker or defensive end, but it doesn't matter. I will do whatever they ask."

Thomas Davis is a star in the NFL now and he played at Georgia, but before that, he played at Randolph-Clay, McCrae's high school.

McCrae looks up to Davis and he is excited about his future at the University of Georgia.

"It is amazing," McCrae said about being committed to Georgia. "It feels great right now. It is like a dream coming true for me and my family."
