The Ravens ran, ran and ran some more.
Totaling 48 carries for 240 rushing yards, the Ravens were able to defeat the 49ers 23-3 in the preseason opener at M&T Bank Stadium on Thursday night.
Rookie running back Lorenzo Taliaferro paved the way with 71 yards on 13 carries.
After falling behind 3-0, the Ravens' first drive was executed to near perfection. Quarterback Joe Flacco threw a tight end screen to tight end Dennis Pitta on Baltimore's second play from scrimmage that went for 14 yards.
Flacco also completed passes to Steve Smith, Kyle Juszczyk and Jacoby Jones on the drive, which was capped with a two-yard touchdown from running back Bernard Pierce.
Flacco finished the game 4-5 for 52 yards.
Up 7-3, the Ravens never looked back. Kicker Justin Tucker connected on field goals from 42, 22 and 55 yards out, in that order, and rookie receiver Jeremy Butler caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the fourth.
After a day off on Friday, the Ravens and 49ers will practice against each other for three consecutive days in Owings Mills, Md.
