Ravens sign Derek Cox

The Ravens added depth to the cornerback position on Wednesday by signing cornerback Derek Cox.

Cox was recently with the Minnesota Vikings but was unable to make it past the first round of cuts.

Cox played his first four NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and did well enough to earn a contract from the San Diego Chargers. However, he struggled in the new defense and did not stick with the franchise.

For the Ravens, this is more of a flier than anything. With injuries to Lardarius Webb (back), Jimmy Smith (chest contusion) and Asa Jackson (ankle), Cox adds depth at minimum, with the upside of getting back to his old Jacksonville self.

To make room for Cox, the Ravens waived receiver Jace Davis.
