Ravens take Maxx Williams in second round

The Ravens added another weapon on the offensive side of the ball by taking Maxx Williams in the second round.

The Ravens added another weapon for Joe Flacco.

Trading with the Cardinals to take the 55th overall pick in the second round, the Ravens selected Minnesota tight end Maxx Williams. Williams is a big tight end with great receiving skills, meaning he should be someone that contribute immediately on offense. Williams went for 569 yards and eight touchdowns in 2014 with the Golden Gophers.

Williams, along with first-round pick Breshad Perriman, should provide Flacco two solid targets that fit what Marc Trestman wants to do offensively. Ideally, they're fits. It's just a matter of living up to expectations.

With the Ravens taking a tight end in the second, this may not be the only one they take in this draft. With Dennis Pitta's future uncertain, the Ravens could use another one to go with Williams and Crockett Gillmore — unless they're confident in Phillip Supernaw to step in and contribute some.
