Chris Redman

Age: 26

Acquired: Drafted in third round out of Louisville in 2000.

Contract status: Will become an unrestricted free agent after this season with a salary of $1.3 million this year.

Experience: Started six games last fall with a 3-3 mark, 1,034 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions until aggravating a herniated disc that has been remedied through surgery.

Preseason performance: Redman started the first two preseason games and completed 9-of-15 passes for 97 yards with no touchdowns, an interception that wasn't his fault and a 51.3 rating. Playing the second half Saturday night in a 24-3 loss to the Washington Redskins, Redman completed 17-of-28 passes for 163 yards, no touchdowns, two sacks and one interception for a 62.1 rating.

Kyle Boller

Age: 22

Size: 6-foot-3, 230 pounds

Acquired: Drafted in the first round out of California with 19th overall pick after club traded next year's first-round pick and this year's second-rounder to New England.

Contract status: In first year of a five-year pact that could pay him up to $20 million with incentive and escalator clauses. First-year compensation: $5.65 million.

Experience: In college, Boller passed for 7,980 career yards, 36 touchdowns and 48 interceptions, improving in a 7-5 senior campaign where he completed a career-high 53.4 percent of his passes for 2,815 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Preseason performance: Entering the Redskins' game, Boller had completed 19-of-39 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns, an interception and a quarterback rating of 76.4. In two quarters at FedEx Field, Boller passed for 101 yards on 10-of-14 accuracy for no touchdowns or interceptions and an 81.5 rating.
