Mitchell traded to Jaguars

8/26 3:30PM OWINGS MILLS - The Baltimore Ravens traded veteran safety Anthony Mitchell to the Jacksonville Jaguars today for a conditional draft pick, said Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome.

Mitchell had been hampered by a sprained ankle and was in a battle with rookie Gerome Sapp to make the roster.

Mitchell tied for second on the team with three interceptions last season with 31 tackle and 12 special-teams stops.

His most memorable play as a Raven came during the club's run toward the Super Bowl as he returned a blocked Al Del Greco field goal 90 yards in the Ravens' 24-10 win over the Tennessee Titans in an AFC divisional playoff. P>Aaron Wilson writes for The Carroll County Times
